The atheists whom I've met really do believe in God, they're just mad at Him for creating a world they don't like. So to "get even" with God they go around violating His commandments and saying He does not exist, all the while hoping that when they die, it won't matter how they lived. You can't make something go away just by denying it or by not believing in it. That kind of "ostrich" mentality may cause momentary peace - but in the end, it leads to eternal disaster.
