Be Ye Clean!
8 Bible reasons for not using tobacco
-
Tobacco cannot be used to the glory of God. "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (I
Cor. 6:20).
- It produces disease of the heart, cancer of lung and mouth, and many other diseases. "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy" (I
Cor. 3:17).
- It is a money-wasting habit. In John 6:12, Christ commanded that even the fragments be gathered up, that nothing be
lost.
-
It is an infringement upon the rights of others. No one should be forced to endure its nauseous odor. "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" (Gal. 5:14).
- It is a wrong example to set before the young. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matt. 5:16).
- It is a filthy habit. "Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (II
Cor. 7:1).
- It is a bad habit,- which once formed, holds one in bondage. "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof" (Rom. 6:12).
- It causes unnatural desires, and leads to other evils. "To whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey" (Rom. 6:16). "If ye live after the flesh, ye shall die" (Rom. 8:13).
Someone may ask if there is a text in the Bible that seems to favor the use of tobacco. Perhaps there
is: "He which is filthy, let him be filthy still" (Rev. 22:11). Every church cursed with a
tobacco-using minister should require him to cleanse himself from such filthiness or vacate the pulpit.
If you have been unfortunate and have developed this degrading, filthy habit, I want to say to you that Jesus
and Jesus alone can truly free you from this deadly and disgusting habit. He is able
to cleanse you from every sinful appetite. Will you not seek Him, and trust Him NOW?
