Do you realize what you are saying in your prayers?

Do you know that the less you know of the Bible, the less likely you will know how to pray to God?  The other day I say a bumper sticker that said "God bless the whole world. No exceptions."  and to make matters worse, this bumper sticker was on a car that had a "CLERGY" sticker in the back window!  Such a statement shows the author's ignorance or disregard of who God is and what He is pleased to bless and what He is not pleased to bless.  God cannot bless the whole world.  He blesses only the righteous.  He curses (brings judgment upon) the unrighteous...

"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man." [Psalms 5:4-6]

To tell God to bless the whole world with no exceptions is to tell God to do something that is against His nature and against His Word in scripture.  It is to go against His law, the law of sowing and reaping.  If you sow to the wind, you will reap the whirlwind...

"For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind" [Hosea 8:7]

So we must not ask God to do something that is against His nature, contrary to His will in Scripture, or that would cause us to sin.

A final and VERY important point about prayer is that God does not even want to hear your prayers IF you are not saved and if you are not praying to Him for salvation...

"He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." [Proverbs 28:9]

People who are saved, born-again, new creatures in Christ are those who always want to hear God's law (His commandments).  They want to study the Bible and they want to obey what it says, about everything... about being holy, about sharing the Gospel, about avoiding sin, about worshipping God in spirit and truth, about storing up treasure in heaven - not on earth, about sacrificial living, etc.
