Introductory Text To
Young's Literal Translation Of The Bible

The Young's Literal Translation (YLT) translated by Robert Young in 1862 is considered by many to be a better (more consistently translated and more faithful the Greek & Hebrew of the Received Text & Masoretic Text) English translation than the KJV. Consistency in translation is certainly easier to achieve with one translator than with many. Also Mr. Young had the groundwork of many great scholars that went before him to assist him in undertaking this monumental task.

Some of the introductory notes to the YLT are available here so that you may see for yourself what Mr. Young was trying to accomplish. What has been omitted are some additional notes on the Hebrew text and its translation. If time ever permits, they will be posted here also.

I believe upon reading these notes you will be prompted to obtain your own copy of the YLT Bible and you will be persuaded to check out the underlying Greek and Hebrew text more often when studying your English Bible, whichever version you use. Be a Berean, not a pew potato!
